Why I’m not married at 44 after 3 Baby mamas — Timaya.
Nigerian singer Inetimi Alfred Odon, popularly known as Timaya, has shared his perspective on marriage and why he remains unmarried despite having children with three women.
The 44-year-old ‘Dem Mama’ hitmaker is a father of four. He shares his first two daughters, Emmanuella and Gracey, with Barbara Fumnaya Nwaokolo, his son Emmanuel with Tamar, and his youngest child, Maya, with Dunnie Onasanya.
In an interview with Naija FM, Timaya admitted he has never been drawn to marriage but said his stance might change in the future. He emphasized his desire for peace of mind as a key reason for his current outlook.
“I have never been a marriage kind of guy right from time, but it can change,” he said. “If I marry today and the girl disturbs me, I can get out of the marriage.
In all my previous relationships, I was the one who got out because I don’t like stress. “
If you have a problem with me, let’s talk about it because I don’t like going to bed thinking about things. I don’t like anything to bother me at all.”
Timaya also spoke about fatherhood, describing it as both stressful and deeply fulfilling. While his children live with their respective mothers, he ensures they spend quality time with him regularly.
“Being a father is very good but stressful because you love them too much,” he said. “They all live with their mothers, but when I want to see them, I tell their mothers. So, I will go to pick them, and they all spend time with me.
“They spend two to three months with me, then go back to their mothers. During Christmas, they also stay with me.” Despite his unconventional family structure, Timaya seems content with his current arrangement, balancing his role as a father with his personal values.
