Jnr Pope: Movie producer, Adanma Luke, surrenders to police after boat mishap; boat riders in police custody

Adanma Luke, the producer of an upcoming movie featuring the late actor Junior Pope Odonwodo, has voluntarily surrendered to the police, according to a report by TheCable.

Pope tragically passed away on Wednesday after falling into the River Niger in Asaba, Delta State, while en route to a movie location. He was accompanied by other actors and crew members when the incident occurred.

Tochukwu Ikenga, the Anambra police spokesperson, clarified to TheCable Lifestyle on Friday that Luke was not arrested but willingly presented herself to the authorities. Ikenga mentioned that the two boat drivers involved were also detained as part of the ongoing investigation into Pope’s death.

“She was not arrested; she came voluntarily, and her statement was taken. We also have the two boat drivers in custody, and the interrogation is ongoing,” he stated. “Early this morning, we have recovered the other three missing bodies. Further details shall be communicated, please.”

Following Pope’s passing, the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) suspended all movie productions involving riverine locations. Emeka Rollas, the president of the AGN, also cautioned filmmakers against collaborating with Luke “until further notice.”

Tochukwu Okafor, affectionately known as TC Virus, who survived the boat accident, recently shared his harrowing experience of escaping the mishap that claimed Pope’s life.
