Uruguay’s veteran striker Edinson Cavani has announced his retirement from international football.

Cavani, who is currently playing for Boca Juniors, announced his decision on his official X (fka Twitter) profile with a lengthy statement.

Cavani thanked the team for the lessons he had learned over the years and said he was blessed to have worn the shirt of the Uruguayan team.

The veteran striker would then announce his decision and said he would follow the side and their performances on the field.
