EFCC summons Billionaire Okoya’s son over viral Naira abuse video
Subomi and Wahab Okoya, sons of billionaire businessman Razaq Okoya, have been summoned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of naira abuse.
The duo has been instructed to report to the EFCC’s Lagos office on Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, at 10 a.m. on Monday, 13 January 2025.
This comes after a video surfaced online showing the brothers spraying naira notes while a police officer held stacks of cash.
The EFCC, in a letter signed by Michael Wetkas, Acting Director of the Lagos Directorate, stated that the summons aligns with its mandate to enforce Section 21(3) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Act, 2007, which outlaws mistreatment of the national currency.
