Former U.S President Jimmy Carter dead at 100.

Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of the United States, passed away on Sunday at the age of 100 in Plains, Georgia, surrounded by family.

The Carter Center confirmed his d+ath, marking the end of a life defined by public service and humanitarian efforts.

Carter, who had been in hospice care since February 2023, was the oldest living former US president, a milestone he achieved in 2019 after surpassing George H.W. Bush.

A Democrat, Carter served as president from 1977 to 1981, vowing to restore morality to American politics following the Watergate scandal.

Despite notable achievements, including efforts in Middle East peace, his presidency was overshadowed by economic challenges and foreign policy crises.

His son, Chip Carter, described him as a hero to those who valued peace, human rights, and compassion. Carter leaves behind four children, 11 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. His beloved wife of 77 years, Rosalynn Carter, passed away in November 2023.
