Man arrested as wife passes away after an altercation over infidelity in Anambra.
Police operatives in Anambra State have arrested a middle-aged man, identified as Nwana, in connection with the death of his wife, Chioma.
It was gathered that the suspect allegedly set Chioma ablaze during a heated argument over suspected infidelity in Eziezekwe village, Abagana, Njikoka LGA of the state.
According to reports, Nwana confronted Chioma on Tuesday evening, January 21, after she returned home following an alleged outing with another man.
During the altercation, Nwana reportedly poured petrol on his wife & set her ablaze. Chioma, who suffered severe burns, was rushed to a nearby hospital but tragically passed away on Wednesday.
Speaking with the state Commissioner for Women & Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo, the suspect said he has 5 children with Chioma & 2 children from a previous marriage.
“I did it out of anger. I don’t know when I did it. In fact, there was a spirit that entered into me,” he said.
