Tragedy as 13 passengers burnt to death in Ondo auto crash
At least 13 people lost their lives in a fiery auto crash on Saturday along the Owo-Ikare highway in Ondo State, near Abule Panu and Ose Bridge.
Leadership reports indicate that the tragic accident occurred around 10:14 am, involving two buses. A survivor was rescued with severe injuries, while the other passengers di3d on the spot.
Witnesses revealed that a tyre burst caused one of the buses, traveling from the Ikare axis, to lose control and collide head-on with an oncoming bus loaded with fabrics. The impact caused both vehicles to burst into flames.
Ondo State’s Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Commander, Ibitoye Samuel, confirmed the incident, stating: “Both buses went up in flames after the collision. The FRSC, police, and fire service teams responded promptly to the scene for rescue operations.”
