Kanye West has deactivated his Instagram account following a rant about a name change

Kanye West appears to have removed his Instagram account after expressing his intention to legally change his name to Ye. The rapper’s profile, which boasted 20 million followers, is no longer accessible.

Just after the 46-year-old star vented on the platform about others pressuring him to stick to his old name, he reportedly deleted his account. His name change had been formally approved by a Los Angeles judge in October last year. In a screenshot of a message sent to Justin LaBoy, Ye mentioned, “I’m closing my Kanye West Instagram account.”

He further asserted, “My name is Ye. No brand or numbers gonna force me to call myself what they want me to still be,” as reported by the Mirror.

Ye also mentioned that his name would soon be changed to Ye on Instagram.

In another post, Ye shared a message he received from Justin, which stated: “Instagram has approved. They just got into the office and called immediately. Waiting on info they need to make it happen today.”
