Court Remands Binance Executive in Kuje Prison
Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the remand of Tigran Gambaryan, a high-ranking official of Binance Holdings Limited, at Kuje prison in Abuja.
The judge issued the remand order today, April 8, after Gambaryan pleaded not guilty to charges of money laundering filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The judge then adjourned the hearing on Gambaryan’s bail consideration till April 18, while setting May 2 as the date to begin hearings on the substantive charge.
In March, the Federal Government arrested Gambaryan and Nadeem Anjarwalla, another Binance executive, over allegations of involvement in money laundering and terrorism financing.
While Gambaryan remains in custody, Anjarwalla, Binance’s Africa Regional Manager, escaped from custody in Abuja.
