Ruben Amorim will replace Erik ten Hag and interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy in the Man Utd dugout. Ten Hag was sacked on Monday after overseeing the Red Devils’ worst-ever start to a Premier League season

Hours later news broke that the club’s new INEOS chiefs were already in talks with Amorim and Sporting CP over a deal to appoint the 39-year-old. Amorim quickly gave his verbal assent to the move, having been keen on a Premier League switch for some time.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Man Utd have informed Sporting that they will go through with the transfer, with the latter subsequently providing formal communication to the media and the Securities Market Commission. This means that the deal is, essentially, done.
